Muslims in Northern India Hold Int’l Quds Day Rally

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A rally was held in the city of Kargil in northern India, on Friday to mark the International Quds Day.

A large number of people from different walks of life took part in the rally, which was organized by the Shia Muslims of the region, scholars and Al-Mustafa University graduates.

The participants carried pictures of Imam Khomeini (RA), Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, martyred Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, and Ayatollah Seyed Ali Sistani.

They also carried banners and placards urging support for Palestine and Al-Quds.

A large number of youths and teenagers were among those who attended the rally.

Kargil in located in Ladakh region in the Indian-administered Kashmir near the borders with Pakistan and China.

Shia Muslims make up around 95 percent of the population and its people are devotees of Imam Khomeini (RA) and Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

The International Quds Day is a legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, who designated the day in solidarity with Palestinians.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, the International Quds Day has been held worldwide on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

This year, the International Quds Day fell on Friday, April 29.
