TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s representative on Tuesday recited verses from the Quran in the preliminary stage of Malaysia’s 62nd international Quran competition.

Iranian qari Masoud Nouri

Masoud Nouri, who is in Mecca accompanying Iran’s Quranic convoy in Hajj, attended this stage of the contest via video-link, thanks to the coordination made between Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization and the organizing committee of the contest.

He recited verses from Surah Al-An’am of the Holy Book.

The 62nd edition of Malaysia International Al-Quran Recital and Memorization Assembly (MTHQA) is held online in the preliminary stage and in-person in the finals.

The final round is scheduled to be organized in October.

The competition is being held again after a two-year suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 61st edition of Malaysia’s international Quran competition was held in the Southeast Asian country’s capital in April 2019 and Iran’s representative Hadi Movahed Amin finished fourth after qaris from Malaysia, Algeria, and Morocco. More than 100 qaris and memorizers from 71 countries had participated in the last edition.

The following footage features Nouri’s recitation in the first round of the 2022 edition:
