TEHRAN (IQNA) – The International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the most credible international Quranic contest in the world, an official said.

Iran Int’l Quran Contest A Model for Other Countries: Official

Hamid Majidimehr, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, added that in the past two years many countries suspended and postponed their Quran competitions due to the coronavirus pandemic but Iran organized its contest as scheduled in a format that was taken as a model by some countries.

They include Malaysia that has the experience of organizing 62 international Quran contests, he stated.

The official made the remark at a press conference in Qom on Iran’s 45th national Quran competition.

He said in other countries’ Quran contests, the competition itself is the main thing but in Iran, what matters most is providing the ground for getting closer to the Holy Book and moving toward contemplation and acting with pure intention.

Majidimehr also highlighted the high standard of judgments in Iran’s Quran contests, saying the best and most skillful Quran experts serve in the panels of arbiters.

He noted that there are some 5,000 Quran experts in Iran who have top-level certificates for judgment in Quran contests.

Foreign Quran experts who come to Iran to serve in the panels of arbiters take with them the regulations of Iran’s Quran competitions as a souvenir, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Majidimehr said the Leader of the Islamic Revolution is the greatest supporter of Quran activists in Iran and the Muslim world.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quran competition with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.

Sixty-two competitors from 29 countries attended the final stage of the 36th edition of the contest, which was held virtually in March.
