Omani Minister Commemorates Winners of Sultan Qaboos Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Oman’s Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs commemorated winners of 30th edition of Sultan Qaboos Contest for Holy Quran Memorization.

 

Mohammed Said Al Maamari presided over the ceremony which took place at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.

The contest seeks to encourage Omani youth to memorise the Holy Quran and adhere to its teachings.

It also aims to groom a generation of Holy Quran reciters who can serve as an element of social reform and teach the Holy Quran in accordance with the norms set by scholars and established reciters.

The guest of honor handed over the prizes to the top winners of 7 levels of the Sultan Qaboos Competition for Holy Quran Memorisation 2022, as well as the jury, the Holy Quran community and participants from the segment of the disabled.

The competition levels were stated as follows: Memorisation of the whole Holy Quran, memorisation of 24 successive parts, memorisation of 18 successive parts, memorisation of 12 successive parts, memorisation of 6 successive parts, memorisation of 4 successive parts and memorisation of 2 successive parts. Conditions of age groups apply to the last three categories.

The total number of contestants in the competition stood at 2,881.

The Quranic event is annually organized in the Persian Gulf Arab country by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court.
