TEHRAN (IQNA) – Maurice Bucaille was a French physician who studies the Quran and other divine books and came to believe that there is a relationship between science and religion. He also referred to the scientific miracles of the Quran and stressed the Holy Book’s divine origin.

The issue of the Quran’s scienitific miracle was first mentioned by Egyptian scholar and researcher Abd al-Razzaq Nawfal.

The discussions about the subject got more profound in the 1950s by the French Catholic physician Maurice Bucaille, who was interested in Egyptology and studying hieroglyphs and had joined the French Egyptology society.

Bucaille was also a special physician of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia and was close to the Arab world. He spoke Arabic and wrote a book titled “Quran, Torah and Bible; A Study in Light of Modern Science” which is considered a turning point in Quranic miracle studies.

The book was translated into tens of languages in the 1970s and was welcomed by many Muslims.

However, it was attacked by scientific journals that considered it wrong to link scientific theories to religious texts.

So Bucaille is a pioneer in the field of studying scientific miracles of the Quran. His approach to linking religion and sciences and his book gave rise to a movement called Bucailleism.

In the book “Quran, Torah and Bible; A Study in Light of Modern Science”, Bucaille compares the verses of the Quran with modern sciences to prove the divine origin of the Holy Book.

Bucaille was born on July 19, 1920 in France and died on February 17, 1988. He was appointed as the family physician of Faisal of Saudi Arabia in 1973. He was also the doctor of some family members of Anwar Sadat, the former president of Egypt.

Maurice Bucaille was a Catholic who embraced Islam. He studied medicine and went on to become one of the most famous surgeons in the country.

He was one of the most renowned Western orientalists who demonstrated the status of Islam to the West and proved that there is no gap between science and religion.
