TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mauritania’s President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani paid a visit to an exhibition featuring Quranic works.

It is part of a series of exhibitions being held in the country’s capital of Nouakchott within the framework of activities celebrating Nouakchott as the Cultural Capital of Muslim World in 2023.

Ghazouani toured the expo that features copies of the Quran, Quranic activities, methods used in the country to teach the Quran and a replica of the historical city of Qana.

He also saw the Muati Maulana Mus’haf that has been calligraphed in Mauritania and is the largest copy of the Quran written in the Warsh from Nafi narration.

The Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has selected Nouakchott as the cultural capital of the Islamic World in 2023.

Programs marking the event are scheduled to be participated by a number of ministers and cultural officials of the Islamic and Arab countries.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a country in the Maghreb region of western North Africa.

The country’s population is estimated to be about 4 million and virtually all Mauritanians are Muslims.

Quranic activities and programs are very popular in the African country.
