The Palestinian ministry of Awqaf and religious affairs organized the ceremony on Tuesday, Maan news agency reported.
A number of officials and religious and Quranic figures, including Muhammad al-Fara, were present at the event.
Al-Fara said in an address that memorizing the Quran and paying attention to its teachings would help to strengthen the Islamic and national identity of the learners.
He also said the government attaches great importance to programs related to the Holy Quran and has made a lot of efforts to remove obstacles on the path of holding such programs.
He also thanked the Awqaf ministry for organizing the ceremony.
Mohammed Salem, the director of Quranic affairs department at the Awqaf ministry, in his address highlighted the ministry’s achievements in Quranic fields.
He said the ministry helped 709 residents of Gaza to memorize the Holy Quran last year.
It also organized several Quran competitions, including the Al-Aqsa Quran Contest, he added.
