Iraqi Expert Lauds Iran’s Quranic Accomplishments

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iraqi Quran experts hailed the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its progress in Quranic fields as amazing.

Zaynab al-Salem, who is in Tehran serving in the panel of arbiters in Iran’s 39th International Holy Quran Competition, told IQNA in an interview that Iran’s Quranic accomplishments are such that they cannot be compared to those in any other country.

She said Iran has made so much progress in the field of Quranic sciences that students from other countries, such as Iraq, come to Iran for Quranic studies.

The trend of Quranic activities in Iran, under the leadership of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, is unique in the world, she added.

Asked about the competition, Al-Salem said the contest has made a lot of progress over the years, including compared to the previous edition, highlighting the effects of the even on promoting the Quranic culture.

She added that the level of contenders is also clearly higher than that of contestants in previous editions, especially in the memorization category.

The Iraqi expert also hailed the inclusion of a new category, Tarteel, in the international Quran contest.

Answering a question about Quranic activities in Iraq, she said that since the fall of the regime of former dictator Saddam Hussein, many Quranic centers have been founded the Arab country, including some by her own students.

“I am proud of all of them because they are all very good in what they do,” Al-Salemi stated.

 The final round of the 39th edition of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition, which kicked off here in Tehran on Saturday, will wrap up in a ceremony this evening.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi is scheduled to officiate the ceremony.

A total of 149 Quran reciters and memorizers from 80 countries, including 114 men and 35 women, took part in the preliminary round, held in the categories of memorization, recitation and Tarteel for men and memorization and Tarteel for women, with 52 participants from 33 countries making it to the finals.

The motto of this edition, like the previous one, is “One Book, One Ummah”, a testimony to the significance that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches to unity and fraternity among Muslim nations.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quran contest with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.
