Quran Exhibition Launched in Najaf University

The Quranic Sciences Assembly affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine, has organized the expo, according to al-Kafeel website.

Sayyed Muhnad al-Mayali, an official with the Astan, said the exhibition has been mounted as part of a special Quranic program for students of universities and higher education centers in Iraq.

The University of Al-Kafeel, also in Najaf, was the first to host the Quranic event, the official noted.

He said such Quranic programs are aimed at helping to raise a generation that is aware and ready to face hard cultural challenges.

Al-Mayali added that on the sidelines of the expo, various Quranic activities such as competitions and Quran reading and Tajweed courses are held for the students.

There will also be Quranic seminars and a special education program for the university’s instructors, he went on to say.

He also hailed the cooperation of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University’s official in holding the expo.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
