‘Best of Best’ Competing in Qatar Int’l Quranic Event
Tens of top Quran memorizers and reciters from different countries are competing in the preliminary stage of the second edition of the contest, which got underway in Doha today.
It is the international section of the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad Al Thani Quran contest organized by Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
The participants compete in different categories featuring Quran memorization, Tajweed, Tarteel and meaning of the words of the Quran.
The panel of judges includes senior experts in Quran memorization, recitation and Tajweed.
They will judge the performance of the contenders based on strict criteria before announcing the top winners.

Promoting the teachings of the Quran and enhancing the younger generation’s bond with the Holy Book are among the objectives of the contest.
The organizing committee has also planned sideline programs such as religious speeches by top scholars during the competition.
