IQNA – A senior Iranian cleric has strongly slammed the “genocide” of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli regime while also deploring the international bodies’ failure to stop Israeli crimes.

Hamid Shahriari

Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing the 19th International Forum of Russia and the Islamic World held in Moscow’s Cathedral Mosque.

Calling on the Muslim nations and world liberal people to unite for practical measures for Palestine, he said that Palestine stands number one issue for world Muslims, Taqrib News Agency (TNA) reported.

Naming security and justice as two core Islamic values, he said, “Security means a protection of the values, principles and assets against threats and possible damage by others.”

According to the cleric when people are threatened with bombardment or demolition of their homes, forced expulsion and occupation of their lands then their security is undermined.

He called justice as the “highest social value” and said, “Injustice and oppression deprive people, by hostility, from their right to live and stay in their ancestral lands”, and added, “These are the rights taken from Palestinians.”

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari deplored the US-backed Israeli regime for depriving the Palestinian nation of all their rights through the occupation of their lands, brutal atrocities against the nation, demolition of their homes, looting their possessions and expelling them from their ancestral lands.

“We are witness to the displacement of many Gaza families, death of thousands of civilians most of them children and women, injury of more than fifty thousand and a child is being killed every ten minutes,” said the cleric and deplored the international bodies for not taking action against these crimes.

The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought condemned the world's arrogant powers and occupying Israeli regime who have caused forced displacement, siege and war across the globe in order to guarantee their interests.

According to the cleric, the occupying Israeli regime brands the massacre of Palestinian women and children as just war while condemning the resistance’s defense for human rights as terrorism.

He denounced the ongoing genocide of the Palestinians and said, “The United Nations has clearly failed in maintaining peace in the world but how many people should be killed so the UN officials are awakened?”

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari said, “Islamic nations and world liberal people should demand their rulers to unite in support of the Palestinians and stress Palestine as the number one issue for the world of Islam.”
