IQNA – The process for selecting members of Iran’s Hajj Quranic convoy will begin in Tehran next week, an official said.

A Quranic program during the Hajj pilgrimage

Hamid Majidimehr, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, said it will be organized from January 31 to February 2.

He said the contenders’ pre-recorded Quran recitations in Tahqiq and Tarteel styles will be evaluated to select the best ones.

A panel of judges comprising senior Quran experts, including Abbas Emamjome, Mohammad Reza Sotudenia, Reza Mohammadpour, Mahmoud Lotfinia, Ali Akbar Kazemi, Mohammad Hossein Saeeidan and Seyed Javad Sadat Fatemi will do the assessments, he added.

The priority will be given to the Quran reciters and memorizers who have not taken part in the Hajj pilgrimage so far, he noted.

According to Majidimehr the exact number of those serving in this year’s Quranic convoy for Hajj has not been finalized yet.

The convoy will be sent to Saudi Arabia to hold various Quranic programs during Hajj.

Every year millions of Muslims from around the world gather in the Mecca for the annual Hajj.
