Gholam Ali Mohammadi made the remark in a Quranic circle held in the western province of Hamedan on Wednesday with the participation of inmates from different parts of the province and neighboring provinces.
He added that the center should double their activities during the holy month of Ramadan, which is the month of the Quran.
The Holy Book is healing and mercy and more attention should be paid to it in Ramadan, he stated.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar during which Muslims devote a considerable amount of time to reading and contemplating the Quran, is likely to start on March 12 this year.
Mohammadi also highlighted efforts to promote education and raise the level of knowledge and skills among inmates, saying various courses are held for them, including those on religious rulings and Nahj al-Balagha.

The director general of the prisons department of Hamedan also addressed the gathering, saying that 118 Quran memorizers, reciters and teachers have been trained among the provinces’ inmates.
