Civilian Casualties Rise as Israeli Attacks on Gaza Intensify on Day 209
Persistent airstrikes and artillery fire from the Israeli regime have resulted in numerous Palestinian casualties across the Gaza Strip. The city of al-Zahraa in central Gaza was recently hit by an Israeli airstrike, leading to six Palestinians losing their lives and several others sustaining injuries, as reported by the official Palestinian Wafa news agency.
Rescue operations managed to extract three Palestinians from the site with the help of local residents. Meanwhile, an Israeli airstrike on the Qaa al-Qurain area, southeast of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, claimed one life and injured several others.
Israeli warplanes heavily bombarded other areas in Khan Yunus, including Bani Suhaila, Abasan, and Khuza’a, located east of the city.
In Gaza City’s al-Zaytoun neighborhood, an Israeli aircraft targeted a residential building, killing two citizens and injuring several others. The attack left several people trapped under the rubble, their current status unknown.

Israeli artillery also struck residential areas and farmlands in several neighborhoods southwest of Gaza City, including Sheikh Ajlin, Tal Al-Hawa, and Al-Zaytoun. Displaced individuals east of Rafah city also had their lands and tents targeted by the Israeli regime.
In a separate incident, Israeli aggression resulted in two civilian deaths and multiple injuries across the Gaza strip. In the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, an Israeli shelling killed one Palestinian and injured five others. Local media also reported the death of a woman in an Israeli artillery attack on the southern Gaza city of al-Fukhkhari.
Additionally, the headquarters of the electricity distribution company in Deir al-Balah was hit by the regime’s bombardment. In the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, Israeli warplanes targeted a house in the “Six Martyrs” neighborhood with airstrikes.

Since October 7, Israel’s military campaign against Gaza has resulted in 34,568 deaths and 77,765 injuries. The casualties include more than 14,500 children and 9,500 women. However, the actual death toll is suspected to be higher as thousands are believed to be still under the rubble.
The government media office in Gaza recently disclosed that the Israeli air and ground offensive has destroyed nearly 90,000 housing units and damaged close to 300,000 others.
