Gholam Reza Rezaei, the director of the Hajj Operations at the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, said on Thursday that 45,553 pilgrims from Iran had arrived in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina by Wednesday night.
This accounts for about 53 percent of the Iranian pilgrims that are going to take part in the Haj 2024, he noted.
Rezaei added that most of the Iranians traveling to the Arab country for Hajj so far have entered the country via the Medina international airport.
The rest have so far traveled or will travel to Saudi Arabia in the coming days via the international airport in Jeddah, he stated.
So far, 246 batches of Iranian pilgrims have entered Medina, and most of them left the city for Mecca after a five-day stay, he noted.

The official went on to say that in a few days, all pilgrims will be in Mecca for the beginning of the Hajj rituals.
Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.
The annual pilgrimage is regarded as one of the pillars of Islam and the largest act of mass pilgrimage in the world.
