Brigadier General Esmail Qa’ani sent a message to Yahya Sinwar, the head of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas’ political bureau, who replaced Haniyeh in the post after the latter’s martyrdom in an attack on his residence in Tehran late last month.
In the message, General Qa’ani offered condolences over the martyrdom of Haniyeh, whom he referred to as one of the brave leaders of the Islamic resistance and a valuable person in the Islamic world.
He said that as Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has said, Iran considers it a duty to avenge the blood of Haniyeh.
The senior commander also said the heroic Jihad of the Palestinian Islamic resistance will further enhance the impact of the punishment of the Israeli regime and will expedite the elimination of “this malicious phenomenon”.
General Qa’ani also congratulated Sinwar on being elected as Hamas’ political bureau chief.
He said that with this election, Hamas proved once again that it gives the flag of its leadership to an influential person and a Mujahid on the path of God.
