Ayatollah Khamenei’s Representative, Nigerian Cleric Discuss Muslim World Developments

IQNA – Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader Nigeria’s Shia Muslims, met with the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in Iraq.

During the meeting, held in the holy city of Najaf, Zakzaky and Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini talked about the current developments in the Muslim world. 

The two senior clerics also discussed issues related to the African continent.

During the conversation, Sheikh Zakzaky appreciated the activities of the office of the Leader’s representative in Iraq.    

A delegation of Nigerian and African scholars, seminarians and elite religious figures accompanied Sheikh Zakzaky in the gathering.

Ayatollah Hosseini also talked with African seminary students studying at the Islamic Seminary of Najaf who were present at the meeting.

Sheikh Zakzaky, who is the head of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), and his wife had been in jail in Nigeria for six years on trumped up charges before the couple’s freedom in July 2021 following tireless activism on the part of Nigeria’s Shia faithful and repeated damning reports about their situation by international human rights bodies.
