IQNA – The 38th International Islamic Unity Conference wrapped up on Saturday as participants stressed unity in their final statement as the sole solution to halt Israeli atrocities.

Hundreds of Shia and Sunni scholars attended the 38th Islamic Unity Conference held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in the Iranian capital Tehran on September 19-21.

In the final statement, the participants expressed regret over the desperate condition caused by Israeli atrocities in the besieged Gaza and the recent strikes on Lebanon.

It condemned the Israeli regime for pursuing occupation of the Palestinian lands, massacre of civilians and also endeavors to promote the normalization of relations with other countries as a way to legalize the Israeli regime as a state.

The statement called holy Quds as a key common value and a unifying issue in the Muslim world, saying that “The defense for the oppressed Palestinian people, based on religious principles, is among the mandatory and ethical issues in Islam.”

The statement reiterated that the defense of the Islamic countries for their territories in response to the atrocities and adventurism of the occupying Israeli regime is a legal right for all Muslim states.

Part of the statement reads: “The sole way to stop the crimes by occupying the Israeli regime is unity of the Islamic nation and taking practical measures in confrontation with the criminal regime.”

The Muslim scholars also lauded the resistance martyrs and condemned as “cowardly” the assassination of the resistance leaders and commanders.
