“The ritual and spiritual event of the Arbaeen pilgrimage has become a great symbol of unity, solidarity, and empathy among nations and various religions,” he said on Monday.
He made the statement in a message to a conference held to commemorate the efforts of servants of the pilgrimage.
Arbaeen is a religious event observed by Shia Muslims on the fortieth day after the Day of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam.

It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims, as well as many Sunnis and followers of other religions, walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries. This year, the day of Arbaeen fell on August 25.
The procession “portrays magnificent and memorable scenes on a global scale every year,” he added.
“We believe that the success of participating and serving in this luminous path is not possible without divine grace and sincere heart and action,” he said adding that every step taken in any position to serve the vast number of Imam Hussein (AS) pilgrims will be rewarded by God Almighty.
