Men’s Section of Iran’s 47th National Quran Competition Opens in Tabriz

IQNA – The final of the 47th National Quran Competition of Iran commenced its men's section in Tabriz, a day after the women's section was wrapped up.

The opening ceremony of the event was held in the northwestern Iranian city on Tuesday in the presence of participants, organizers, and local officials.

The event, organized by Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, is the largest Quranic contest in Iran, attracting participants from across the country to compete in various categories such as recitation, memorization, and religious melodies.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Shahabeddin Hosseini, Director General of the Awqaf Office in East Azarbaijan Province, expressed gratitude for hosting this national event, noting its cultural and spiritual significance.

He noted that concurrent with the competition, the city is hosting other Quranic circles in schools, offices, and communities, turning them into hubs of Quranic activities.

The women's segment concluded on December 9 with widespread participation and enthusiasm.

This year’s competition theme emphasized making Quranic gatherings accessible to diverse social and cultural institutions, aligning with the overarching mission of spreading Islamic teachings at grassroots levels.

Addressing the ceremony, East Azarbaijan Governor Bahram Sarmast highlighted the event as an opportunity to celebrate the ethical and spiritual values embedded in Quranic teachings.

“The Quran’s message offers solutions for contemporary societal challenges, emphasizing virtues like justice, patience, and honesty,” he stated.

Sarmast also underscored the Quran’s potential to strengthen community bonds and nurture morally resilient youth.

Participants in the men’s segment will compete in categories such as recitation, memorization, Adhan (call to prayer), and supplication.

The finals for the memorization and recitation categories will be held on December 13-19, bringing together top contenders to showcase their mastery of Quranic art.

The annual competition, regarded as the most prestigious Quranic events in Iran, aims to promote Islamic values, foster Quranic literacy, and celebrate exceptional talent.

The top winners of the competition will represent Iran in international Quran competitions across the world.
