IQNA – Tasnim Exegesis demonstrates that the Holy Quran still holds "undiscovered layers" and fresh ideas for modern humans, says an Islamic scholar and researcher.

Sheikh Dr. Yahya Jahangiri made the statements while speaking to IQNA about the Tasnim Exegesis of the Quran authored by Iranian senior scholar Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli.

"Ayatollah Javadi Amoli has demonstrated that, despite the Quran being a specific text, it still contains numerous undiscovered layers that can be revealed, and that the Quran has something to say in every era," he said.

"Indeed, he has shown that the Quran holds fresh and new ideas for modern humanity; a thought can only be enduring if it has the potential for renewal and rejuvenation. Ayatollah Javadi Amoli has proven through this work that the Quran has the capacity for renewal and fresh vitality for mankind," he added.

The Tasnim exegesis, a comprehensive work on Quranic interpretation, consists of 80 volumes in Persian, with 34 volumes of its Arabic version already published. Additionally, a 20-volume thematic exegesis is in progress, bringing the total Persian exegesis, including sequential and thematic interpretations, to 100 volumes.

"We are discussing an exegesis (Tasnim Exegesis) that has proven it is still possible to be a theorist and engage in theorizing within the seminary," Jahangiri added.

In the field of Quranic interpretation, Sunni scholars took the initiative earlier and more extensively than Shia scholars, meaning they have both historical precedence and numerical superiority in their exegeses, he said. "However, in the contemporary era, two exegeses, namely Al-Mizan by Allameh Tabatabai and Tasnim by Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, have changed this trend and shown that we have surpassed them in both speed and quality."

Before Allameh Tabatabai, references were primarily made to Sunni exegeses, but after Al-Mizan, this trend shifted, noted the researcher, predicting that  "Tasnim will transfer the scholarly authority from the Sunni world to the Shia."

"If we consider the products, outcomes, and results of this exegesis in the future, we will witness a transformation in the field of interpretation," he stressed. adding, "If Allameh Tabatabai's Al-Mizan led to the writing of numerous articles and dissertations, then the Tasnim Exegesis will foster the growth of Quranic theorizing."

"One could say that with this exegesis, we will witness two distinct periods in the Shia world: before and after its publication," Jahangiri said.
