IQNA – A Tunisian analyst says US President Donald Trump is sure to lose in its bet on Gaza as his plan to expel Palestinians from the besieged territory has drawn widespread backlash.

Salaheddin al-Jureshi wrote an article on Arabi21 website in reaction to Trump’s threat against the Gaza Strip

The US president issued a so-called ultimatum late Monday, saying if all the Israeli captives held by Hamas in Gaza were not released by Saturday at noon, he would propose canceling the ceasefire and “let all hell break loose.”

Al-Joureshi said in his article that Trump will surely realize that he will lose his bet just as others have failed.

“This is not merely a claim, but a truth that history has proven.”

Referring to the return of Gaza refugees to their home despite widespread destruction and challenges, he said the genocide that the people of Gaza have experienced over the past year and a half is unprecedented in modern history.

“Despite this, the people of Gaza emerged from the rubble and challenged this brutal regime (Israel). They mourned their dead, attempted to heal each other’s wounds, and viewed the freedom of their captives in exchange for enemy hostages as a victory.”

Thus, it became clear to everyone that an unjust rule will not last more than an hour, while a just rule will endure until the end of time, he said.

“This is not just poetry; it is one of the principles of history. The important thing is that we have a nation that does not forget, does not lose hope, is not fearful, and does not sell its homeland for a pittance.”

He said these are values that someone like Donald Trump does not understand.

“(Trump) declared that whenever he seeks help from the governments of Egypt and Jordan to displace the Palestinians, they will surrender and respond positively to his request, and he even considered relocating them to Indonesia without feeling any shame.”

However, he is going to realize that he will lose his bet on Gaza, the Tunisian analyst stated, underscoring the steadfastness and resolve of the people of Palestine.
