“The Quran has served as a key point of connection between our two nations, bringing us together in shared religious values,” Ebrahimi explained.

The program, organized by Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Indonesia, and the Mahfel TV Show, will feature renowned Iranian Quranic qaris Hamed Shakernejad and Ahmad Abolqassemi.

The Mahfel show, known for its Quranic recitations and Islamic teachings, enjoys a wide audience globally and is broadcast during the blessed month of Ramadan.

The main event, which will take place on March 16 at Indonesia's Istiqlal Mosque, will be attended by distinguished figures, including Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Professor Nasaruddin Umar, the Grand Imam of the mosque.

Despite the challenges involved in organizing the event, the collaboration between Iranian and Indonesian organizations has made this significant event possible, Ebrahimi added.

One of the unique features of this event, according to Ebrahimi, is its demonstration of unity between Sunni and Shia Muslims. “Indonesians are familiar with Iran’s cultural capacities, but they may not be fully aware of the shared religious bonds between our two peoples. The purpose of this Quranic gathering is to bring the hearts of Muslims from both countries closer together,” he emphasized.

The Iranian official also underscored that the Quran serves as a foundation for unity and coexistence among different sects of Islam. “We are working to showcase the Quranic potentials of both nations to their respective governments and people,” Ebrahimi added.

He further noted that the event would be broadcast live on television and YouTube, reaching a wide audience. Additionally, supplementary Quranic programs are scheduled to take place in various Indonesian cities, including Al-Azhar Mosque and Pesantren Al-Qur’aniyah.

The event is expected to draw considerable media attention, with over 100 journalists covering the proceedings, and both state-run and private television networks broadcasting the programs.
