The International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) was established in January 1981 as a universal scholarly organization and a subsidiary organ of the OIC.
Its members are eminent Muslim jurists, scholars, and intellectuals who specialize in jurisprudential, cultural, scientific and economic fields of knowledge from different parts of the Muslim world.
They study contemporary life issues, performing an authentic and effective Ijtihad, aiming at providing solutions stemming from Islamic heritage and open to the developments of Islamic thought.
The IIFA also plays an important role in strengthening and harmonizing Islamic jurisprudence among different sects, seeking common or foundationally shared jurisprudential solutions for emerging issues, and is considered one of the most significant platforms for dialogue and scholarly interaction among Islamic scholars.
