Tanzania to Host Iranian Qaris for Major Quranic Event
The international Quranic event titled “Voice of Mercy” is scheduled to take place on May 25, 2025, in the Tanzanian capital, according to a poster of the event shared on social media.
The large-scale gathering, held under the theme “A Grand Assembly in the Light of the Quran,” will bring together prominent Quran reciters from around the world.
Among the featured qaris are internationally recognized figures such as Iran’s Hamed Shakernejad and Ahmad Abolghasemi. The two are prominent Iranian Quran reciters who have risen to greater prominence as hosts of the widely viewed Mahfel TV Show. They recently participated in events in Indonesia.

Sayed Jalal Masoomi—another Mahfel TV host—and Rajai Ayoub, alongside Tanzania’s Iddi Shaaban, are other qaris that will perform in the Quranic event. Two young Iranian participants, Mohammad Hossein Azimi and Mohanna Ghanbari, will also deliver performances at the program.
The event will be hosted at Mnazi Mmoja Main Ground and will run from 3:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time.
It is supported by several religious and cultural institutions, including the Iran Cultural Center in Tanzania, BAKWATA (National Muslim Council of Tanzania), and Al-Mustafa International University.
