Israel Sought US Support After Being ‘Pinned to Ground’ by Iran’s Retaliation: Leader
“Although we regard the Zionist regime as a cancer and the United States as a criminal due to its support for that regime, we have never sought or welcomed war. However, whenever the enemy has attacked, our response has been firm and forceful,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday in a meeting in Tehran with Iranian judiciary officials.
“The clearest evidence of Iran's strong response to the Zionist regime is that it had no choice but to seek America's help,” he said, adding, “If the regime hadn’t been brought to its knees and pinned to the ground, and if it had been able to defend itself, it would not have resorted to such appeals. It realized it could not stand up to the Islamic Republic.”

The remarks come just weeks after the Israeli regime launched a full-scale aggression on Iranian territory on June 13, striking multiple military and nuclear sites, and carrying out assassinations of senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The United States also took part in the assault by striking Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities located in the central region of the country.
In retaliation, Iran’s Armed Forces launched precise strikes on the regime’s military and industrial infrastructure using advanced-generation missiles. Iran also hit back at the United States by targeting a strategic airbase in Qatar.
Twelve days after the start of the war, the occupying regime was compelled to announce a unilateral ceasefire, based on a proposal from Washington.
"Both friends and foes should know that the Iranian nation will never enter any arena as the weaker party. We possess all the necessary tools — from logic to military capability — and whether in the field of diplomacy or on the battlefield, whenever we step in, we will do so fully prepared, by God's grace," said Ayatollah Khamenei.
He also pointed to Iran’s retaliatory operation against the US, saying, “The target hit by Iran was an extremely sensitive U.S. center in the region. Once censorship barriers are lifted, it will become clear what a significant blow was dealt. And indeed, even greater blows could be inflicted on the United States and others.”

“The aggressors calculated that by attacking certain individuals and key centers in Iran, the system would be weakened. Then, by activating sleeper cells of their mercenaries — from the MKO and monarchists to thugs and criminals — and provoking unrest in the streets, they could bring the system down,” he said, adding that however, “In reality, the exact opposite occurred, revealing that many assumptions made by some about the political situation and similar matters were inaccurate.”
The enemy's hidden plans and objectives have become clear to the people, he noted, adding, “God nullified their plots and inspired the public to step in and support the state and the system. Contrary to the enemy’s expectations, the people rallied in both spirit and substance to defend the Islamic Republic.”
“Let it be known that, as promised in the Quranic verse ‘Indeed, Allah will surely help those who help Him,’ (Surah Hajj, verse 40) God’s help for the Iranian nation — under the Islamic system and within the framework of the Quran and Islam — is assured and this nation will undoubtedly be victorious,” he said.
The great achievement of the people during the 12-day war stemmed from their determination, willpower, and national self-confidence, said the Leader, adding, "The very existence of a spirit ready to confront a power like the United States and its chained dog, the Zionist regime, is in itself immensely valuable."
