IQNA – The mayor of Tehran described the bond between Iran and Islam as unbreakable.

Mayor of Tehran Alireza Zakani

Alireza Zakani made the remark at the ceremony held in Tehran on Sunday to honor the “Servants of Heaven”, the Tehran Municipality staff who were influential in serving people during the recent 12-day war imposed on the country by the Israeli regime.

Talking about the separation between Iran and Islam is futile and baseless, Zakani said.

“There is a deep and unbreakable bond between the two; whenever Islam is mentioned, Iran is also mentioned and vice versa. This is an honor that we are proud of, an honor that the Tehran city administration also played a role in.”

He added, “We thank God that in these 12 holy days, the great nation of Iran emerged from a serious test with honor and dignity. The Leader of the Revolution stood at the peak of honor and glory, and the generals, scientists, and families of the martyrs became medalists in this field. The Iranian nation, which has always been considered a model for other nations, once again proved its worthiness as an exemplary nation and soldiers of the path of Islam and Iran.”

Zakani further said, “In the eight years of the Sacred Defense (the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran in the 1980s), we stood against a puppet regime (of Saddam Hussein) that was supported by the superpowers, but in this 12-day defense, we directly faced the superpowers themselves, NATO, the United States, the Zionist regime, and their regional mercenaries. Another difference is that in the previous Sacred Defense, 1,340 kilometers of the country’s borders were involved in the war, but this time Tehran, the capital of the country, became the front line and the main focus of the confrontation was formed.”

Zakani concluded his speech by saying, “Undoubtedly, the great mission of the Iranian nation is to guide the human society, and this is a serious duty and responsibility that God has placed on our shoulders. We cherish this great blessing and ask God not to make us ashamed of the high-ranking martyrs and Ask Him to record these services as a medal of honor in our record.”

His remarks come in the wake of the Israeli regime’s June 13 aggression targeting senior Iranian officials and nuclear scientists in an act of terrorism that killed scores of civilians as well. Days later, the United States escalated the war by bombing three civilian nuclear facilities in Iran.

In a powerful response, Iranian Armed Forces launched retaliatory strikes on strategic Israeli targets across the occupied territories and also hit the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military outpost in West Asia.

Iran’s coordinated operations forced a halt to the aggression by June 24.
