In a statement on the 700th day of the war on the Palestinian enclave, Hamas said the US is responsible for the continuation of genocide in the Gaza Strip due to its political and military support for the terrorist Zionist regime.
The violations committed by the Israeli regime’s military in Gaza constitute acts of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement, the statement said, Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported.
“Seven hundred days have passed and the world is witnessing, in audio and video, the most horrific genocide in modern history” Hamas said.
“We have shown every flexibility to reach an agreement (for a ceasefire), but (Israeli prime minister Benjamin) Netanyahu, the war criminal, insists on thwarting the mediators’ efforts.”
The resistance movement emphasized that statements condemning aggression, devastating war, and famine are no longer enough but punitive measures and procedures must be adopted to deter the occupiers.
“We call on the international community, Arab and Islamic countries, the United Nations and its institutions, especially the United Nations Security Council, to assume their responsibilities towards the Palestinian people and their genocide. These institutions must play their role in containing the fascist occupying regime, stopping its crimes, and holding it accountable for its crimes against humanity,” Hamas concluded.
The Israeli regime has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing over 63,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring many more.
The relentless bombardment has devastated the enclave and led to food shortages and deaths by starvation.
