He made the remarks in an interview with IQNA on the sidelines of the 39th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran.
“We have gathered here to remind the world of the Prophet’s Seerah, particularly his model of human unity and the establishment of a government that upheld the rights of all citizens,” Sheikh al-Jarba said.
He recalled that when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated to Medina, he established a written constitution that is considered one of the earliest in history. This document, known as the Medina Charter, guaranteed the rights of all citizens regardless of faith, ethnicity, or gender.
“It even recognized the rights of Jews and polytheists, treating them as equal members of society,” he noted, stressing that Muslims today must embrace this model to face common threats.
Al-Jarba pointed to current geopolitical challenges. “The Israeli regime has openly declared its plan for a Greater Israel. For the first time, its prime minister has stated this publicly before Arab and Islamic nations. This makes our unity and solidarity more urgent than ever,” he said.

Asked about the Prophet’s moral qualities and their role in fostering Muslim unity, he responded: “The Prophet was chosen by God as a complete human being with divine moral attributes. He was a walking Quran. We must apply these ethics to achieve Islamic unity.”
On making the Seerah practical in contemporary life, he emphasized the need to move beyond academic study. “We should turn the Seerah into a lived reality in our schools, universities, mosques, and daily interactions, even with non-Muslims. This will help win global respect for Islam,” he explained.

Sheikh al-Jarba also highlighted the Prophet’s compassion toward all people. “He was the kindest of men, not only to Muslims but to everyone. The well-known story of his patience with a Jewish neighbor who mistreated him reflects this mercy. We must revive such ethics to save the world from decline,” he said, adding that today’s crises stem from leaders in Europe and the United States “who lack faith in humanity and even in the rules of international law.”
