Delivering a televised speech broadcast from the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Wednesday evening, Sheikh Naim Qassem deemed the aerial raid a completely American-Zionist assault and part of the so-called “Greater Israel” plan.
The term "Greater Israel" has been used since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War to describe the territories occupied by Israel, including East al-Quds, the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, and Syria’s strategic Golan Heights.
Early Zionist thinkers, such as Ze’ev Jabotinsky—widely regarded as the ideological forerunner of Netanyahu’s Likud party—expanded this vision to include present-day Jordan. The idea of "Greater Israel" is a core tenet of Likud’s political legacy, rooted in Revisionist Zionism.
“The occupying regime’s aggression against Hamas leaders in Qatar is fairly dangerous. We, as Muslims, should not remain silent about it. We stand with Qatar in confronting this unprecedented violence. It falls within the framework of the so-called “Greater Israel” scheme.

“The aggression against Qatar was jointly crafted by the US and Israel, and was carried out with the green light of Washington,” the Hezbollah secretary general said.
He described the issue of Palestine as the “foremost and principal issue” of the Muslim world, praising the recent retaliatory operation near the occupied al-Quds as bold and courageous.
“We must stand with the people of Gaza and the West Bank in confronting the Israeli and American aggression. Despite all grave difficulties, the Palestinian people have stood firm, and the struggle continues,” the Hezbollah leader said.
He underscored that Hezbollah has long been preventing the fruition of the “Greater Israel” concept, hailing the resistance movement as the only armed group in Lebanon capable of resisting Israeli aggression.

Sheikh Qassem also dismissed calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah, stating that all those who support such pleas are delusional.
“The resistance group sacrificed its most precious assets on the path to defend Lebanon, most notably its leaders Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine. Hezbollah thwarted the Zionist enemy’s plots and did not allow it to occupy the Lebanese territory,” he said.
The Hezbollah chief noted that the primary goals of the 2024 ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel were to stop the occupying regime’s aggressions, delegate responsibilities to the Beirut government and expel the Zionist occupiers; but none of these objectives have been achieved.
“The reason for the compounding crises in Lebanon is corruption and failure to implement the Taif Agreement. The latest Israeli war on Lebanon further complicated the conflicts,” Sheikh Qassem said.

On October 22, 1988, Christian and Muslim members of the Parliament of Lebanon signed a pact in Saudi Arabia’s Taif, pledging to abolish sectarianism. The agreement, known as the Taif Accord, sought a political settlement to a bloody war – partly fuelled by sectarianism – that killed more than 100,000 people.
Sheikh Qassem urged all Lebanese citizens to unite, proclaiming that the ongoing resistance represents a historic milestone and a source of strength.
He pledged that Hezbollah will not forsake Lebanon even if the world stands united against it.
