Iranian Officials, Seminary Figures Offer Condolences to Ayatollah Sistani

IQNA – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei sent a message of condolence to Iraq’s top Shia cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani following the passing of his wife.

“I wish to offer my condolences on the passing of your honorable wife, and I pray for God’s mercy and forgiveness for her,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in the message on Monday.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as well as senior clerics and seminary scholars, including Grand Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli, also issued statements expressing condolences on the death of Ayatollah Sistani’s wife.

The wife of Iraq’s top Shia cleric passed away on Sunday evening after enduring a period of illness.

Her funeral was held on Monday and her body was buried in the Sheikh Tusi Mosque.
