Governor Mohammed Awad and Martyrs Foundation Chairman Ahmed Jaran attended the closing ceremony of the Quran Competition for the Children of Martyrs on Saturday, according to Yemen News Agency (SABA).
Governor Awad congratulated the top-ranking students for their efforts in memorizing and reciting the Quran.
He said in one section of his remarks that “the Book of Allah is the source of spiritual faith and the foundation of knowledge that all members of the Ummah should carry.” He encouraged students to continue taking part in such contests as part of broader Quranic learning initiatives.
The governor also acknowledged the role of the organizing bodies in supporting the children of those martyred in past conflicts.

Competition jury member Fawzi Al-Tayyib said the event included three rounds, with 12 participants reaching the semifinals and six advancing to the finals.
Yaqub Saqar won first place, followed by Ahmed Al-Jamali and Issam Heisan. Al-Tayyib urged the community to promote Quranic education and instill moral values inspired by Prophet Muhammad’s teachings.
