She has completed memorizing the entire Holy Quran despite suffering from cancer that has been consuming her body for years.
Shorouk’s journey with the Quran began two years ago, at the beginning of the Israeli regime’s war on the Gaza Strip, inspired by the Quran memorizers in Gaza, despite all the hardships they endure.
“I saw the people of Gaza memorizing the Quran despite the pain and suffering, so I said to myself: If they can do it, then I can too,” said Shorouk, according to Al Jazeera.
She decided to carry the Quran with her throughout her long cancer treatment.
In the corridors of Al-Mutala Hospital in occupied al-Quds, she memorized verses while waiting for chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions, and used the waiting hours to read, review and memorize.

Shorouk, a mother of three, did not give in to cancer, and the disease did not stop her from her goal, but the suffering of the disease became the motivation for her to continue on a new path of familiarity with the Quran.

She says, “Nothing soothes the heart like the Quran, and there is no deeper treatment for the soul than its verses. I advise everyone who is going through difficult circumstances to make the Quran their medicine and constant companion.”
Akram Dawood, Shorouk’s mother, could not hold back her tears when she learned that her daughter had finished memorizing the Quran.

She says, “When Shorouk told me that she had finished memorizing the entire Quran, I cried with joy. This is the most beautiful award I have received in my life.”
She adds, “I always encouraged her despite the difficult circumstances she was in, and I thank God for helping and guiding her.”
