IQNA – How can religious texts like the Quran be authentically documented and studied using modern AI? This was the central question at a seminar during the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025, where scholars called for a paradigm shift.

The seminar “Scientific Documentation: An Original Approach with a Contemporary Vision” was organized by the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah during the Sharjah International Book Fair.

 

The seminar “Scientific Documentation: An Original Approach with a Contemporary Vision,” organized by the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah during the Sharjah International Book Fair in collaboration with Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities, the University of Sharjah, and Al Qasimia University, highlighted the need to advance scientific documentation in the age of artificial intelligence.

Participants emphasized the development of new standards, modern technical tools for scholarly documentation, and the establishment of methodological foundations for universities and research platforms to verify and generate texts in accordance with global best practices.

The seminar recommended adopting AI-driven text generation as a research assistant, following internationally recognized methodologies for documentation. It called for intensified collaboration among academic and research institutions to share expertise and data, launch joint projects, explore new dimensions in Quranic linguistic studies, and enhance translations to preserve the rich Quranic heritage.

Dr Abdullah Khalaf Al-Hosani, Secretary-General of the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah, stressed the importance of cooperation with leading national universities with global scientific recognition.

The seminar gathered experts from participating universities to discuss Quranic studies, emphasizing that modern technologies, systematic documentation, and methodological rigor are essential for preserving cultural heritage and promoting scholarly research for future generations.

The seminar addressed three main areas: scientific documentation methodologies, documentation in Quranic readings and related sciences, and the reliability of scientific texts in the AI era.
