Mehdi Daghagheleh, a prominent Iranian reciter and head of the International Quranic Preaching Center’s Ahvaz branch, visited Dhaka and several Quranic institutions across the country. His trip formed part of a series of Quranic evenings attended by thousands of enthusiasts.
Daghagheleh said the events provided an opportunity to introduce the work of the International Quranic Preaching Center, including the “1,000 Memorizers Project,” which the shrine considers one of its most important national initiatives.
He noted that the center also runs programs in several other countries, giving the visit added relevance for expanding its global activities.
During the tour, he visited the Riyahani School, one of the largest Quran memorization institutions in Bangladesh. The school hosts around 1,200 students, ranging from beginners to advanced memorizers.
Daghagheleh said the students’ performance reflected “strong commitment to training capable memorizers.”

The delegation also met with the International Qirat Organization, headed by Sheikh Saad Saifullah al-Madani. Discussions focused on potential cooperation in Quran recitation and the study of different reading traditions.
Daghagheleh later took part in recitation gatherings that drew significant interest within local Quranic circles.
He described the reception in Bangladesh as exceptional and said it demonstrated the country’s deep respect for the Quran.
He added that the visit opened “new prospects for scholarly and Quranic cooperation” between Bangladeshi institutions and Iraqi centers affiliated with the Imam Hussein (AS) Shrine.
The trip, he said, underscored the growing regional interest in strengthening ties through shared Quranic education and cultural exchange.
