
The Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) announced the end of the 26th edition of the contest, WAM reported.
This year’s competition witnessed an impressive attendance and an unprecedented number of participants, which reflects the status of the award and its growing role in serving the Holy Quran and creating a culture of memorization and mastery of it in Emirati society and among its residents, the DIHQA said.
The total number of participants in this edition reached 1,666 male and female participants of different ages and categories, of which 868 were men and 798 were women, indicating the breadth and diversity of participation.
The participants represented 55 nationalities from Arab, Asian, African and European countries, with Emirati citizens at the top of the table with 1,028 participants, representing the highest percentage of citizen participation in the history of the competition.
Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award and Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department of Dubai, stated that the competition has become a suitable platform to attract outstanding Quran memorizers from different nationalities in the country, and the increase in participation demonstrates the government’s desire to support Quranic projects that help create a generation that well acquainted with the Book of God.

The finalists and winners are scheduled to be honored at a special ceremony to be held during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.
