IQNA – As the blessed birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS) approaches, the flag of the first Imam’s holy shrine was replaced in a ceremony on Sunday.

During the ceremony, the servants of the mausoleum in Najaf, Iraq, replaced the flag in a show of preparation for holding magnificent rituals and celebration on this auspicious occasion.

Changing the flag of the Alawi shrine is one of the spiritual traditions of this holy site that takes place on the eve of major religious occasions.

It is considered a symbol of veneration of divine rituals and announcing the beginning of the days of joy and happiness for the followers of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

In the days leading up to the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), the courtyards and porches of the Alawi shrine take on a spiritual atmosphere with the installation of flags, inscriptions, and decorations with flowers.

Najaf hosts a large number of pilgrims who come to this holy city from different parts of Iraq and other Islamic countries to offer congratulations and devotion to the first Imam (AS).
