IQNA – The preliminary round of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Prize Quran Competition has gotten underway in Saudi Arabia.

The preliminary round of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Prize Quran Competition was launched in Saudi Arabia.

 

Prince Saud bin Meshal bin Abdulaziz, deputy governor of the Mecca Region, inaugurated the preliminary stage of the 27th King Salman bin Abdulaziz Prize Quran Competition in Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation.

The competition is organized by the country’s ministry of Islamic affairs, call and guidance.

Saud bin Meshal bin Abdulaziz emphasized at the opening ceremony that the attention of the country's officials to the Holy Quran and its memorizers reflects the high status of the Quran in the country.

This also reflects a firm commitment to supporting memorization programs, encouraging generations to memorize the Quran, recite it and reflect on its meanings, and instilling its high values ​​in their behavior and actions, he added.

This competition is for girls and boys, and the preliminary stage will be held in six disciplines.

The final stage will be held in Riyadh in the month of Sha’ban.

A total cash prize of 7 million Saudi riyals has been earmarked for this edition of the competition, which will be awarded to the top finishers in all six categories.

The ceremony to honor the top contenders in the boys’ section will be held in Riyadh on February 20 and the ceremony to honor the girls is slated for February 21.
