IQNA – A political figure of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah said the ceasefire in Lebanon is the result of efforts made by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Hassan Fadlallah, a representative of the Loyalty to the Resistance faction in the Lebanese parliament

Hassan Fadlallah, a representative of the Loyalty to the Resistance faction in the Lebanese parliament, said on Thursday that the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon had earlier informed the resistance that the ceasefire will begin Thursday night.

The ceasefire is the result of Iran's diplomatic efforts, he stated.

He added that Iranian officials will follow up on the extent to which the American side adheres to its commitments.

Fadlallah also said the resumption of Iran’s negotiations with the United States is subject to the implementation of this commitment.

At the same time, he emphasized that Hezbollah’s adherence to the ceasefire depends on the cessation of all hostilities.

The Lebanon ceasefire is yet another triumph for the axis of resistance and a clear demonstration that principled diplomacy backed by strength can compel even the most aggressive occupiers to step back.

Iran remains committed to supporting the Lebanese people until full sovereignty is restored and the Zionist regime’s expansionist ambitions are decisively defeated across the region.

US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire during a White House address on Thursday, saying the truce would take effect at midnight Lebanon time.

A Lebanese parliamentarian from the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc confirmed that a ceasefire began Thursday night, describing the agreement as the result of Iranian diplomatic efforts.

Hours after Iran and the United States announced a ceasefire ending 40 days of aggression against the Islamic Republic, the Israeli regime violated the truce last Wednesday by launching devastating strikes on civilian areas across Lebanon.

The cessation of attacks on all fronts, including in Lebanon, was one of the key points of the 10-point Iranian proposal that was initially accepted by the American side.
