Hezbollah announced in a statement that the claims made by the Syrian interior ministry about the connection of a cell arrested in Quneitra with the resistance are false and fabricated, Al-Mayadeen reported.

The statement emphasized that Hezbollah has no presence on Syrian soil and completely rejects these accusations.

Hezbollah also expressed surprise at the repetition of such claims and slammed planned attempts to link the movement’s name to any security incident.

It considered the goal of these attempts to be tarnishing the image of the resistance.

The statement continued by saying that Hezbollah’s role is simply to confront the Zionist regime’s aggression in order to defend Lebanon and its people.

Earlier, in February of last year, the Syrian interim government had claimed to have discovered a “security cell” and attributed it to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Then, too, Hezbollah issued an official statement, categorically denying any connection to that case.
