Arab, Islamic Meeting on Gaza Planned in Turkey’s Antalya

IQNA – Diplomatic sources in the Turkish foreign ministry announced that the the country’s foreign minister will host a meeting on Gaza today on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Conference.

It will be attended by representatives from the UAE, Indonesia, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, Rossiya El-Youm reported. 

According to these sources, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to emphasize at this meeting the importance of maintaining the Palestinian issue on the agenda of the international community and the need to establish a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, guarantee Palestinian governance in the enclave and its security as soon as possible, and immediately begin efforts to rebuild Gaza.

The sources added that Fidan will emphasize that moving to the second phase of the peace plan in Gaza could help reduce tensions in the region, while also pointing to Israel’s attempts to sabotage the process.

The sources said Fidan will also touch on ongoing consultations on the negotiation process between the United States and Iran and recent developments in the region, including ongoing efforts to end the war and Israeli occupation of areas in Lebanon.
