Abdul-Zahra al-Tamimi, a professor at the Ibn Rushd Faculty of Humanities in Baghdad and head of the National Supreme Committee for Intellectual Security affiliated with the Iraqi prime minister’s office, shared his views on this war of aggression in an interview with IQNA.
The Iraqi professor stated that the aggression is an ideological war against the true religion of Islam, and this fact is the driving force that has made all the free people of the Islamic Ummah stand on the side of the front of truth against falsehood.
He referred to the crimes of the Zionist regime and the United States in targeting Iranian civilian infrastructure, including residential homes, medical and scientific centers, and universities during this war, and said targeting infrastructure in general and hospitals, universities, research centers, and schools in particular is a clear sign of the barbarity of these attackers, their departure from humanity, and their disregard for the international norms of war that do not permit such heinous acts.
“In addition, this indicates their loss of control, collapse, and failure in the face of the stability of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which led them to resort to the aimless massacre of ordinary people and destruction of infrastructure.”

Al-Tamimi also referred to the demonstrations of the Iranian people in the streets and squares these days in support of the Islamic Revolution and said, “One of the greatest things we witness about the Iranian people, with whom we share the faith in Islam and, moreover, we are proud to be neighbors with them, is their steadfastness, internal unity, and awareness of the plans of global arrogance. This has enabled them to make a significant contribution to achieving this victory and thwarting the despicable goals of the enemies.”
The Iraqi professor stated that the American-Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran is undoubtedly an ideological war against Islam and, therefore, this issue should not be limited to Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen, but rather the circle of supporters should be expanded within the Islamic Ummah, “because we are experiencing an existential war; this is a matter of life and death.”
In response to a question about why international organizations and human rights organizations, especially the UN Security Council, have not taken any action against the brutal and cruel aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran, he said, “Unfortunately, many of the statements have been false and their true nature has been revealed. It seems that the Zionist lobby controls a large number of international institutions and world organizations, which are born out of hostility towards the Islamic resistance. This is what causes their silence or failure to take a neutral position on this issue.”
He added that since this brutal aggression against Iran is a war of a different kind, it may not be easy to determine its end and outcome. “However, what reassures us and what is firmly established in our minds is the steadfastness of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its refusal to surrender. This is a strong sign that we will taste victory, God willing.”

He concluded by saying, “Unfortunately, a number of countries and institutions apply double standards from one perspective, which creates incomplete and unrealistic ideas. Therefore, everyone should examine their positions in this difficult time and deal impartially with all parties involved in this unjust war waged by the arrogant global powers against the Islamic Republic of Iran. We ask God to grant Iran victory, strengthen the resolve of its soldiers on the front lines, inspire its people with patience and determination, grant its martyrs Paradise, and grant its wounded a speedy recovery, for He is the Hearer of prayers and is capable of whatever He wills.”
