Ayatollah Khamenei Donated Thousands of Manuscripts to Astan Quds Razavi

IQNA – Former Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei Leader endowed more than 13,000 handwritten works and 4,500 lithographic copies to Astan Quds Razavi, the custodianship of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine, an official said.

Abdolhamid Talebi, the head of the Scientific and Cultural Organization of Astan Quds Razavi, made the remarks during a ceremony held to unveil a manuscript of holy Quran, stating that the martyred Leader had donated the largest collection of manuscripts to the holy shrine’s library.

He noted that some of these works had originally been gifted to Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, who subsequently purchased many unique pieces using his personal funds and endowed them to Astan Quds Razavi.

Talebi further referred to the emphasis by the chief custodianship of Astan Quds Razavi on preserving and academically utilizing these works, saying that in 2023 a team was formed to carry out both virtual and in-person imaging of the manuscripts.

He added that, with the support of the holy shrine’s custodianship, restoration projects have achieved an unprecedented record, with more than 2,000 manuscript and lithographic works restored over the past two years.
