Mourning Flags Raised on Domes of Karbala Shrines
The ceremony included the changing of the red flags of the domes to the black flag of mourning, INA reported.
It marked the beginning of the month of Muharram 1448 AH.
Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, addressed the ceremony, saying, “We must build an Ummah that understands the school of Ashura with awareness and knowledge.”
Slogans are a means that guide us to the lofty goal of piety, he added.
Sheikh al-Karbalayi also said the religious authority has paid special attention to the Husseini pulpit in order to achieve the lofty goals of the Husseini movement.
