The decision to extend the deadline for registration was made at a meeting of the Quranic Activities Committee of the Arbaeen Cultural Headquarters held Saturday in Tehran.
The meeting reviewed the latest Quranic programs for this year’s Arbaeen procession and exchanged views on coordination and synergy among the participating organizations.
In this meeting, representatives of various organizations active in the field of Arbaeen Quranic activities explained their plans for the upcoming event.
Also, necessary decisions were made with the aim of preventing duplications and creating coordination and synergy between different institutions.
It was decided that this year a permanent base for the Quran activists will be established in the cities of Najaf and Karbala as well as on the Arbaeen route.
Additional information and details of its establishment will be announced in the future meetings.
This year, a 100-strong Quranic convoy will be sent to Iraq during the Arbaeen season to hold various Quranic programs in different locations.
The Arbaeen mourning ceremony, which falls on August 4 this year, is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
It marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS).
Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.
The pilgrims, mainly from Iraq and Iran, travel long routes on foot to the holy city.
