Ayatollah Sistani Son Sends Message to Leader’s Office

IQNA – Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Reza Sistani, the eldest son of Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali Sistani, said the senior cleric would not be able to lead funeral prayers for martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in Iraq.

In a message addressed to the office of Leader of the Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Reza Sistani pointing out the importance of holding funeral prayers over the body of the martyred Leader.

Referring to Grand Ayatollah Sistani’s physical limitations and health condition, he said his father would not be able to lead prayers over the body of the martyred Leader because his physical and health condition does not allow this.

Meanwhile, based on the decision made so far, Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Taqi Hakim will offer prayers over the body of the martyred Leader in the holy city of Najaf.

He is the brother of the late Ayatollah Seyed Muhammad Saeed Hakim and one of the revered scholars of Najaf.

After farewell and funeral ceremonies in Tehran and Qom, the holy body of the martyred Leader will be sent to Iraq for funeral processions in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday.

The body of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei will be laid to rest beside the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) on Thursday.
