IQNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday strongly condemned US military strikes carried out over the past 24 hours, calling them a “blatant breach” of the UN Charter and a serious threat to regional and international security.

Iran Condemns U.S. Strikes as “Gross Violation” of UN Charter, Warns Neighbors Against Assisting Attacks

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the “aggressive and barbaric” U.S. attacks had undermined months of efforts to reduce tensions in West Asia.

The ministry said Washington is violating Article 2(4) of the UN Charter and “nullifying” recent diplomatic attempts to stabilize the region.

According to the statement, the United States has “openly violated nearly all components” of the agreement signed 25 days ago to end the war, targeting Iranian transportation infrastructure, fishing boats, cargo vessels, and meteorological facilities. The ministry described these actions as “heinous war crimes.”

The statement also said the United States interfering with Iran’s implementation of navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the intervention had reintroduced insecurity and disrupted international commercial shipping.

It added that U.S. forces, by using the territory and facilities of states along the southern Persian Gulf littoral, had effectively drawn those countries into “illegal and criminal military aggression” against Iran.

Reaffirming Iran’s determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the ministry warned that any cooperation with “aggressor parties” would carry consequences. It stressed that, under international law, neighboring states are obligated to prevent their territory from being used for attacks against Iran, and that the origin of such strikes would be considered a legitimate target for Iranian defensive operations.

The ministry also accused the U.S. administration of conducting a “campaign of disinformation and fake news” to distort facts and justify its actions.

It rejected as “false and desperate” recent remarks by the U.S. president regarding the outcome of the Muscat talks, saying the discussions had focused solely on navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and that Washington had obstructed progress through overt and covert pressure on Oman.

Expressing regret over “non-constructive approach” of the UN Secretariat toward U.S. violations, the Foreign Ministry urged the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council to address the breach of international peace and security and to hold accountable those responsible for the attacks against Iran.
