Asalin kalmar "Barzahu" tana nufin wani abu da yake shingaye tsakanin abubuwa biyu, sannan duk abin da aka sanya tsakanin abubuwa biyu ana kiransa Barzahu. Don haka ana kiran duniyar da ke tsakanin duniya da lahira “Barzahu”.
Ayoyin kur'ani da dama sun yi nuni da samuwar irin wannan duniyar, wadda a wasu lokuta ake kira "duniya ta kabari" ko "duniya ta ruhohi". (Muminun /100) daya ne daga cikin ayoyin da suke da muhimmanci a cikin wannan mahallin.
Daga cikin ayoyin da suke tabbatar da samuwar irin wannan duniya a sarari akwai ayoyin da suka shafi rayuwar shahidai; (Al-Imran/169). A nan, Allah yana magana da Annabi, kuma a cikin aya ta 154 a cikin suratu Baqarah, Ya ce wa dukkan muminai: “Kuma kada ku kira wadanda aka kashe a tafarkin Allah matattu, amma suna rayayyu; Amma ba ku sani ba.

Kada a manta cewa duniyar lahira wani abu ne daban da Barzahu. Lahira tana da ma’ana mai fadi kuma ana daukarta a matsayin duniya bayan mutuwa, wacce ta hada da Barzahu da tashin matattu da kuma bayan haka.
Don haka Barzahu wani sashe ne na lahirar da ake sanya mutane a ciki bayan mutuwa da kuma gabanin tashin kiyama.
