Terrorists in Iraq have warned they will attack Shias who mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS).

This is according to a source in police department in Dayali province, Buratha news agency reported.

The source said police have found leaflets in different parts of the province in which Shias have been warned not to raise black flags or distribute Nazri (free meals) in streets as part of rituals marking the month of Muharram and martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).

The source said police have started investigations to identify the groups behind distribution of the leaflets.

In other news, Qalib Al-jabouri, a senior security official in Dayali province said a special security operation is underway in the province on the occasion of Muharram.

He said 30,000 police and army forces are taking part in the operation, which includes protecting Husseiniyas (religious centers where mourning ceremonies are held during Muharram).

In the lunar Hijri month of Muharram, Shias all around the world mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the battle of Karbala in the year 61 after Hijra (680 A.D.).
