Bahrain’s Shia leader Ayatollah Issa Qassem criticized the double-standard policies of the country’s judiciary.

Addressing Friday prayers worshipers at Manama’s Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque on November 15, Ayatollah Qassem regretted that the judiciary issues harsh verdicts against Bahraini citizens while remaining lenient on government affiliates, Sawt Al-Manama website reported.

He said the verdicts issued by courts in Bahrain do not follow a single procedure but judges issue verdicts subjectively.

“The special ‘justice’ in Bahrain tells you to do whatever is against the religion and conscience and you will get away with it but stay away from criticizing the government because you will then be (considered) a terrorist.”

In other news, Sheikh Ali Salman, secretary general of Al-Wefaq Islamic Society denounced the move by Bahrain’s interior ministry forces to tear and take down an Ashura banner.

He said millions of people around the world commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and in Bahrain, like nowhere else, the police target the mourners of Imam Hussein’s (AS) martyrdom.
